Terdapat fakta menarik jelang duel Timnas U23 Indonesia vs Korea Selatan di babak perempat final Piala Asia U23 2024.
Timnas U23 Indonesia bakal melawan Korea Selatan di Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium pada Jumat (26/4/2024) pukul 00.30 WIB.
Fakta tersebut melibatkan pelatih Shin Tae-yong yang kini menukangi Timnas Indonesia.
Throwback 9 tahun lalu, tepatnya bulan Maret 2015, Shin Tae-yong bertugas sebagai pelatih Korea Selatan level usia 23 tahun.

Korea Selatan berada satu grup dengan Timnas Indonesia pada babak kualifikasi Piala Asia U23 2016.
Yakni Grup H bersam Brunei Darussalam dan Timor Leste. Timnas Indonesia menjadi tuan rumah untuk helatan tersebut.
Berdasarkan regulasi, hanya satu tim yang bisa lolos ke putaran final Piala Asia U23 dari grup tersebut, dan Korea Selatan besutan Shin Tae-yong lah yang berhasil mendapatkannya.
Di dua laga awal penyisihan, Korea Selatan dan Timnas Indonesia sama-sama berhasil meraih kemenangan.
Korea menghajar Brunei 5-0, Timnas Indonesia juga menang dengan skor identik atas Timor Leste.
Pada pertandingan berikutnya, Timnas Indonesia yang ketika itu diperkuat Hansamu Yama, Evan Dimas, Adam Alis, Abduh Lestaluhu, hingga Ahmad Nufiandani menang 2-0 atas Brunei.
Sedangkan Korea Selatan menang atas Timor Leste 3-0.
Selangkah lagi Timnas Indonesia bisa melaju ke putaran final Piala Asia U23 ketika dibesut Aji Santoso ketika itu.
Namun sayang, Timnas Indonesia kalah dengan skor mencolok 4-0 oleh anak asuh Shin Tae-yong di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta.
Empat gol yang diciptakan oleh skuad Shin Tae-yong dicetak dalam 45 menit kedua sehingga menggagalkan kans Timnas Indonesia untuk debut.
