TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Meshaal Osman terus bertransformasi dalam dunia sepak bola yang kini tengah diarunginya.
Pemain keturunan Sudan itu baru-baru ini ambil bagian dalam pemusatan latihan (TC) Timnas Indonesia U-20 di Jakarta.
Dalam skuad besutan Indra Sjafri tersebut, Meshaal dijajal untuk mengisi pos sebagai bek tengah.Posisi bek tengah menjadi peran baru yang dimainkan oleh Meshaal. Sebelumnya, pemain jebolan ASIOP itu mengaku pernah bermain sebagai striker dan gelandang bertahan.
\”Awal posisinya dulu di striker, tapi akhir-akhir ini gelandang bertahan,\” kata Meshaal.
\”Lalu pas di timnas (Indonesia U-20) dijadikan posisi center bek (bek tengah – red),\” sambungnya.
Meski ini pertama kali dirinya bermain sebagai bek tengah, pemain berpostur 184 cm itu menyebut bahwa dirinya tak mengalami kesulitan berarti.
Proses adaptasinya berjalan cepat karena Meshaal mengatakan bahwa tiga tahun terakhir dirinya beroperasi sebagai gelandang bertahan.
\”Mungkin kalau adaptasi tidak ada kesulitan sih,\” kata Meshaal.
\”Karena tiga tahun terakhir berposisi gelandang bertahan dan center bek jadi adaptasinya cepat,\” imbuhnya.
Bicara soal idola di lapangan hijau, Meshaal mengaku mengidolakan sosok gelandang Manchester United, Casemiro.
Sementara itu, di Timnas Indonesia, pemilik nama lengkap Meshal Hamzah Bashir Osman itu menyebut Jordi Amat, sebagai idolanya.
\”Saya sebagai gelandang bertahan role modelnya Casemiro, seorang petarung. Kalau di Indonesia ada Jordi Amat,\” tutur Meshaal.
