Real Madrid mencetak gol lebih dulu melalui aksi Rodrygo Goes pada menit ke-12.
Sedangkan gol balasan Manchester City dicetak Kevin De Bruyne pada menit ke-76.

Sementara pada babak adu penalti, Real Madrid berhasil memenangi laga setelah Andriy Lunin berhasil melakukan dua penyelamatan gemilang.
Andry Lunin berhasil menepis tendangan Bernardo Silva dan Mateo Kovacic yang membuat Los Blancos memenangi adu penalti dengan skor 3-2.
Di babak semifinal nanti, Real Madrid akan berjumpa Bayern Munchen setelah berhasil menyingkirkan Arsenal dengan skor 1-0 (agregat 3-2).
Kekalahan Manchester City ini membuat Inggris sudah tidak memiliki wakilnya di Liga Champions.
