Di babak pertama, AS Roma sebenarnya unggul 2-1 terlebih dahulu berkat gol dari Gianluca Mancini (28\’) dan Stephan El Shaarawy (44\’), sedangkan gol Inter Milan dicetak oleh Francesco Acerbi (17\’).
Sementara di babak kedua, Inter Milan berbalik unggul melalui Marcus Thuram (49\’) dan gol bunuh diri dari Angelino (56\’) serta gol dari Alessandro Bastoni (93\’).
Dengan hasil ini, Inter Milan makin kokoh di puncak klasemen Liga Italia dengan raihan 60 poin.
Sedangkan bagi AS Roma hasil ini menjadikan kekalahan perdananya dalam kepelatihan Daniele De Rossi.
Yap, Daniele De Rossi sebelumnya berhasil meraih tiga kemenangan beruntun di Liga Italia usai mengalahkan Verona, Salernitana dan Cagliari.

Pasalnya, AS Roma yang mengemas 38 poin hanya berselisih satu poin dari Lazio dan dua angka dari Bologna yang tepat ngekor di bawahnya yang belum memainkan laga pekan ke-24.
