Mantan pesepak bola berjuluk \’Der Kaiser\’ tersebut meninggal dunia pada Minggu (7/1/2024).
Kabar terkait meninggalnya Beckenbauer telah dikonfirmasi oleh pihak keluarga.
\”Dengan penuh kesedihan yang mendalam kami mengumumkan bahwa suami saya dan ayah kami, Franz Beckenbauer meninggal dunia dengan damai dalam tidurnya kemarin, Minggu, dikelilingi oleh keluarganya.\”
\”Kami mohon agar kalian bisa berduka dalam diam dan menahan diri untuk tidak bertanya apapun,\” pernyataan pihak keluarga, dikutip dari Daily Mail.
Sebelum meninggal, kondisi kesehatan Beckenbauer memang telah menurun sejak meninggalnya sang putra, Stephan, pada 2015 silam.
Sejak saat itu, Beckenbauer terus berjuangmelawan penyakit Parkinson, demensia, dan juga melakukan operasi jantung.

Dikutip dari transfermarkt, Beckenbauer adalah mantan pesepak bola profesional kelahiran Munchen, 11 September 1945.
Beckenbauer memulai debut profesionalnya bersama Bayern Munchen U19 pada tahun 1964.
Kala itu, Beckenbauer masih berusia 18 tahun.
Berawal dari U19, ia pun berhasil menembus tim Bayern Munchen senior.
Kariernya pun kian menanjak, Beckenbauer bahkan bisa dikatakan menghabiskan sebagian besar kariernya bersama Bayern Munchen.
Tercatat, Beckenbauer telah bermain lebih dari 500 kali untuk Bayern Munchen.
Bersama Bayern Munchen, Beckenbauer berhasil memenangkan empat gelar Bundesliga, empat Piala Jerman, tiga Piala Eropa dan satu Piala Cup.
