Salah satu aksi heroik Ernando yakni saat ia berhasil menepis tendangan penalti yang didapat oleh Australia di menit ke-23.Kala itu, Timnas U23 Indonesia terkena hukuman penalti setelah Komang Teguh melakukan handball di kotak terlarang.
Handball terjadi setelah tembakan Mohamed Toure ke arah gawang terkena tangan Komang Teguh.
